Let's Get Started
We need to place a £10 bet with William Hill in order to unlock our £30 bonus.
Use our special oddsmatching software to find a close match between the William Hill back odds and the Betfair Exchange lay odds.
*** The William Hill back odds need to be ≥ 2.0 ***
TOP TIP
STEP 1: Open up the oddsmatching software
STEP 2: Select William Hill from the bookmaker drop down menu
STEP 3: Click “Search”
STEP 4: Open the “Filter” box
STEP 5: Select "Football" under Limit Sports
STEP 6: Select "Match Odds" under Limit Markets
STEP 7: Select "Betfair" under Limit Exchanges
STEP 8: Enter minimum odds of 2.0 under "Odds"
STEP 9: Click “Apply”
The “Rating” column indicates which match is the closest, and therefore the most profitable.
The higher the rating, the closer and thus the better the match.
We want to always try and do matches with ratings ideally ≥ 80.
STEP 10: Choose an event you want to match
Note: Your William Hill odds may be appearing in fractional format
You can change this to a decimal format under the drop-down "Price Format" on the William Hill site.
STEP 11: Double-check the odds are the same on the bookmaker & exchange websites
Click on the blue "i" for info symbol in your oddsmatcher to work out your bets with the calculator.
If you prefer, you can use our simple calculator instead.
STEP 12: Open up the calculator
STEP 13: Select "Normal" at the top
STEP 14: The William Hill bookmaker stake is £10
STEP 15: Enter the William Hill back odds
STEP 16: Enter the Betfair Exchange lay odds
STEP 17: The Betfair lay commission is 5.00%
The calculator will show you your lay stake and your liability.
The "liability" is the amount you need to temporarily deposit into the Betfair Exchange.
(You have already deposited £10 into Betfair, so double-check how much extra you need to deposit if anything.)
The lay amount is what you'll type into the stake box in the Betfair Exchange.
STEP 18: Temporarily deposit the additional liability amount (if it's > £10)
Make sure you have enough money in the Betfair Exchange to cover the liability of this bet.
If you don't, temporarily deposit £5 more.
Remember, you get this back anyway, so don't worry.
STEP 19: Place your £10 William Hill back bet
STEP 20: Place your Betfair Exchange lay bet
Woo hoo! You've made your first matched bet and have unlocked £30!
Now mark this video as completed and move onto the 4th and final video where Chris will show you how to cash out your profit.
Example Bets
If you're still not entirely sure how this works, here's an example with actual figures.
STEP 1: We have already deposited £10 into William Hill and Betfair Exchange
STEP 2: We open up the oddsmatching software, filter by sport, markets, minimum odds of 2.0 and find this bet
STEP 3: We then check this information in the calculator is correct
This tells us that we will need £12.09 (liability) in Betfair Exchange to cover this bet.
STEP 4: We deposit an additional £5.00 into Betfair
We need £2.09 more in our Betfair account as we have already deposited £10 previously.
However, Betfair's minimum deposit amount is £5.00, so we deposit this much extra instead.
We are getting all our deposits with Betfair back anyway so it doesn't matter.
STEP 5: We find the correct game (Wigan vs Millwall) on William Hill and on Betfair
We do this to make sure the odds are the same as they are on the oddsmatching software.
Always double-check the odds before placing any bets.
Once we're happy they're all correct...
STEP 6: We place our William Hill £10 back bet
STEP 7: We place our Betfair lay bet of £9.91 (as per calculator's instructions)
Those bets are now both placed.
STEP 8: We now double-check to make sure they are definitely placed correctly
Remember, both bets should be placed on the same team / outcome (one back, one lay).
So in this example it would be backing and laying Wigan to win in the 12:30 Wigan vs Millwall game on Sunday 5th May 2019.
We lose £0.59 from this qualifying matched bet, but have unlocked our £30 bonus. We'll use this to make our profits in the next video!
